Embracing My New Niche: Helping Women Heal Stress and Inflammation
Part 1: Embracing a New Approach to Women’s Health
After focusing on specializing in nutrition for postmenopausal women to improve bone health, I’ve decided to shift my focus to a broader and more holistic approach—helping women reduce stress and inflammation to address the root causes of their health concerns. While supporting bone health remains an important part of my work, I’ve found that many women I serve are battling chronic conditions related to stress and inflammation, and these go beyond just one area of health.
Understanding the Role of Stress and Inflammation
Through my own healing journey, I’ve come to understand that stress and inflammation are central drivers of many chronic conditions women face. When I struggled with GERD, chronic pain, and migraines, I didn’t initially realize how interconnected these issues were with my body’s stress response and underlying inflammation. But once I addressed these root causes, I found not only symptom relief but long-term healing.
Many women I work with experience health challenges ranging from thyroid issues and digestive problems to mood disorders and chronic pain. Yet, often they don’t recognize how stress and inflammation are impacting their bodies. These underlying factors can affect everything from hormonal balance to gut health, and addressing them at the root can create a ripple effect of improvements across multiple areas of well-being.
A Holistic and Weight-Inclusive Approach
In making this shift, I also reinforce my commitment to a weight-inclusive philosophy. I believe that health is not defined by a number on the scale, and that true wellness comes from nourishing the body and mind. My focus is on helping clients develop sustainable, long-term health habits through nutrition, behavioral changes, and lifestyle adjustments that reduce inflammation and support the body’s natural ability to heal.
This holistic approach allows me to work with women struggling with various conditions—whether it’s heart health, mood disorders, or digestive health—by creating personalized plans that target inflammation and stress, rather than focusing solely on weight or superficial health goals. My clients often experience improvements in their energy levels, mental clarity, and overall vitality when we work on these deeper issues.
Why I Made the Change
This transition wasn’t just about refining my niche; it was about offering more comprehensive care. I realized that many of my clients needed more than just nutrition guidance for bone health—they needed support in addressing stress, inflammation, and the emotional and psychological barriers that were holding them back from achieving true wellness. This insight led me to shift from a narrower focus on postmenopausal women to helping a broader group of women who are tired of feeling exhausted and stressed out.
I also saw how impactful addressing these issues had been in my own life. Through functional nutrition and coaching, I healed from chronic conditions that once held me back, and I knew I could help others do the same. My focus became helping women not just manage symptoms, but to dig deep and discover the root causes of their health challenges, leading to lasting improvements in their quality of life.
Combining Nutrition with Coaching for True Transformation
As a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach, I’m equipped to help women not only with nutrition but with the behavioral and mindset shifts necessary for long-term success. In my work, I’ve found that coaching is a powerful tool to help clients create real, lasting change. Whether they’re struggling with motivation, self-limiting beliefs, or trying to break free from old habits, coaching provides the support they need to make those shifts.
Paired with functional and integrative nutrition, coaching helps get to the heart of stress and inflammation. When we understand how stress impacts our bodies, how inflammation affects every system, and how behavioral patterns can either help or hinder our progress, we unlock the potential for true healing.
How I Help Women Reclaim Their Health
Through my practice, I use a combination of personalized nutrition plans, supplement support, and lifestyle changes to help clients reduce stress and inflammation. For example, addressing gut health plays a huge role in reducing systemic inflammation, while stress management techniques like meditation, movement, and mindfulness can significantly improve mood and emotional well-being. Together, these strategies help restore balance to the body and mind.
I also help clients find their "why"—their deeper motivation for making changes. This is crucial for creating lasting wellness. It’s not just about food or supplements; it’s about transforming your relationship with your health, overcoming limiting beliefs, and stepping into a place of empowerment.
